Drogheda United's players have agreed to a request from the club to delay their planned action over unpaid monies by 24 hours but have warned of a boycott if no solution can be reached.

In a statement published on the PFAI's website today, the players confirm they have given officials at the club until 11 a.m. tomorrow morning to resolve the financial situation that has seen them defer wages and provide evidence they are insured to play.

If no resolution can be brokered before this deadline, the players have threatened not to play in tomorrow night's eircom League match against St Patrick's Athletic.

The statement stresses the players feel they have "no alternative" but to follow this course of action.

It read: "Despite a willingness on the players' part to defer a percentage of their wages and the best efforts of the players and their representatives to broker a solution . . . and the failure of the club to show evidence that the players are insured to play, the players have been left with no alternative put to issue the club with notice that if an agreement cannot be reached by 11 am tomorrow, the players will not participate in the game against St. Patricks Athletic".
