Down officials have indicated they will seek to have Gregory McCartan's red-hard received in yesterday's Ulster final overturned, freeing the player to play in Sunday's replay with Tyrone.

The midfielder received his marching orders from Kerry referee Aidan Mangan after throwing the ball into Brian McGuigan's face, a decision some observers believed was harsh.

Down will seek a swift Games Administration Committee (GAC) meeting before Sunday's showdown. However, if the GAC apply the letter of the law McCartan can expect to receive a four-week ban.
