A Northern Ireland sea diver died last night following an emergency ascent to the surface off the island of Islay in the Inner Hebrides. Strathclyde Police named the dead man as Mr Thomas Cecil (51) of Rathlin Island. Mr Cecil was unconscious when he reached the surface and was flown in an RAF rescue helicopter to a hospital in Oban, where he was later pronounced dead.
