St Patrick's Athletic failed to close in on Shelbourne at the top of the Premier Division following this draw with Derry City at the Brandywell tonight.

Pat’s went ahead in the 41st minute, after a Martin Russell free kick from the left was floated into the penalty and Stephen McGuinness rose above the Derry defence to head the ball home.

But Derry seemed hungrier after the break and they drew level after only nine minutes.

Darren Kelly slid the ball into a crowded St Pat's goalmouth before Eamon Doherty managed to squeeze a shot past the advancing Seamus Kelly.
