The Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI) hosted a round-table discussion yesterday with experts, health professionals and parents to discuss what policies need to be put in place to encourage more organ donation and transplants in Ireland.
The seminar focused on the need for a national organ donor registry, for urgency in enactment of the Human Tissue Bill and for transplant co-ordinators in main hospitals. CEO of the CFAI Phillip Watt said there is an “urgent need” for a national database to replace the reliance on people carrying organ donor cards.
