Out-of-work actors take note: a number of opportunities have arisen in the west of Ireland - but with some very specific qualifications.
For starters you must have the wherewithal to play the part of a womaniser or a larger-than-life elderly member of the community. Secondly, you will need to be a fluent Irish speaker. If you pass these initial tests, TG4's Ros na Rúnmay be able to give you a start.
The drama series said today it was on the lookout for actors to join the cast for its upcoming 14th season.
The programme's makers are promising "dramatic and exciting storylines" one of which will involve a "womanising character who causes uproar when he works his charm on the female population of Ros na Rún". They also want to fill the parts of of an elderly couple and a variety of smaller roles.
Auditions will be held on the Ros na Rúnset in Spiddal, Co Galway. CVs, with a recent photograph, can be sent to hugh@rosnarun.com before Friday, April 17th.
More than 300,000 viewers tune in to the 13-year-old soap each week. It claims the screening of the first gay kiss ever shown on Irish television, and has tackled issues such as teen pregnancy, webcam pornography, drink driving and organised crime.
It is co-produced by Eo Teilifis and Tyrone Productions.
