Mortgage arrears owed by Patrick Cruise O’Brien and his sister Margaret were unlikely to trouble the court further, County Registrar Susan Ryan was told yesterday.

Irish Nationwide Building Society is seeking possession of the house at Howth Summit, Howth, Co Dublin, on which there is an outstanding mortgage balance of more than €1,430,000 and instalment arrears of €160,000.

Robert Dore, solicitor for the Cruise O’Briens, the children of the late Conor Cruise O’Brien and Máire Mhac an tSaoi, said he was extremely confident that within two months the arrears would be dealt with.

Barrister Anne Lawlor, counsel for Irish Nationwide, said a two-month adjournment had been agreed between the relevant parties.
