CIRA blamed for attack on RUC station

The Continuity IRA is believed to have been responsible for a gun attack on Lisnaskea RUC station, Co

The Continuity IRA is believed to have been responsible for a gun attack on Lisnaskea RUC station, Co. Fermanagh, writes Suzanne Breen. Nine shots were fired at the base from an automatic rifle on Tuesday night. No one was injured in the attack.

So far no organisation has admitted responsibility but the area is one where the Continuity IRA has been active in the past.

Meanwhile, Sinn Fein has criticised claims from the Ulster Democratic Party, the UDA's political wing, that the Provisional IRA was responsible for a gun attack on a leading loyalist, Mr Johnny Adair, last weekend.

Mr Adair was attacked by a group of men as he attended an open-air rock concert in Botanic Gardens last Friday. He was badly beaten. He said he was also shot in the head.
