Opening at selected cinemas next Friday, Felicia's Journey, the new Atom Egoyan film, his ninth, is adapted by him from the 1994 novel by William Trevor. It features a remarkable performance from the young Irish actress, Elaine Cassidy (above), as the eponymous Felicia, a naive 17-year-old from Co Cork who goes to England to find her boyfriend when she becomes pregnant. Arriving in Birmingham, she catches the attention of an ostensibly mild-mannered, middle-aged bachelor (an effectively understated Bob Hoskins) who preys on vulnerable young women and murders them.
