Chelsea have vowed to take action against the person who struck Thierry Henry on the side of the head with an object thrown from the crowd at Stamford Bridge last night.
Arsenal's speedy French striker was left with blood running from a cut to the side of his head following the incident, which came as the Gunners' celebrated Lauren's late goal which sealed a 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final win against their London rivals.
It is believed Henry was hit by a cigarette lighter thrown by a Chelsea supporter and came less than three weeks after he was the target of more projectile attacks by Blues supporters in the first game of the sixth-round tie.
Chelsea chairman Ken Bates apologised for those incidents in last night's programme and will now be worried about possible Football Association sanctions after referee David Elleray confirmed he would be including details of the developments in his report of the game.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has called for Chelsea to take action against the fan and Stamford Bridge chief executive Trevor Birch confirmed that is exactly what will happen once the perpetrator has been identified.
"We will look at the CCTV coverage of the incident and take the appropriate action," Birch told the London Evening Standard.
