A Cavan manufacturing company this morning announced plans to lay off 61 staff.
Wellman International, located near Bailieborough, is to seek the 61 voluntary redundancies across all grades in the coming months.
The company employs more than 300 people and has been based in Co Cavan since 1973.
An additional 90 employees work at two sites on continental Europe, at Verdun in France and near Arnhem in The Netherlands.

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based Wellman, one of the largest producers of polyester staple fibres in the world.
