Italian striker Benito Carbone today completed his loan move to Middlesbrough.

Italian striker Benito Carbone today completed his loan move to Middlesbrough.

The former Bradford player (30) will spend the rest of the season at the Riverside Stadium after making an 11th-hour U-turn when his hopes of a permanent switch were dashed.

"It's always important for me to play in the Premier League and now I've got another chance to play for a big team," he said. "This one, I think, is one of the best in the Premier League and now I've got a chance to show what I can do".

The former Inter Milan star will meet up with several old friends at the Riverside.

"I know a lot of the players," he said. "I know the coaches Steve Harrison and Paul Barron and I know Gareth Southgate, Ugo Ehiogu, Paul Ince, Gianluca Festa and Dean Windass".

Carbone arrived at Boro's Rockliffe Park training headqaurters early this morning to tie up his move, and club officials are now working to ensure that all the paperwork is completed in time for him to be available for tomorrow's vital Premiership clash with Leeds.
