Boy hospitalised after bonfire accident

A young boy was taken to Cork University Hospital after a bonfire accident near Cork city this evening.

A young boy was taken to Cork University Hospital after a bonfire accident near Cork city this evening.

The boy, believed to be aged 11 or 12, was near a bonfire on a building site in Douglas when somebody threw a can containing liquid onto the fire.

The can exploded and the boy's clothing caught fire. He was rushed to the hospital where he is believed to be in a serious condition.
