London - A 14-year-old schoolboy has become what is understood to be the youngest sex offender to be required to sign the new paedophile register in Britain.

The boy was convicted in Yeovil, Somerset, on Thursday of a sex attack on two eight-year-old boys and sentenced to a supervision order. The new regulations require anyone convicted of a sex offence with a minor to register with police in their area at the time of their release from prison following a sentence. Because the boy has not received a custodial sentence, he is obliged to register now.
