Blackburn boss Graeme Souness has enquired about the availability of Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke.
Souness has asked United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to put a price on the Trinidad and Tobago international but dismissed reports Yorke could be part of a swap deal that would see Damien Duff move in the opposite direction.
"I would like to bring Dwight Yorke here," Souness told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. "If we could afford to do the deal then I'd like to bring him here, but right now the asking price is beyond our valuation given that he's entering the last year of his contract".
Asked about a swap deal involving Duff, Souness said: "There's nothing in that. I've not spoken to anyone from Manchester United in regard to Damien Duff.
"We've made an enquiry and asked for a price for Dwight Yorke and we've been told that price, which is too much for us. But there has never been any mention of Damien Duff in that deal".
