Bail for three men pending appeal

Three young men who were sentenced to jail for 18 months for assaulting another man were granted bail yesterday by the Court of Criminal Appeal pending an appeal. In a workplace prank the three put a high pressure air hose to the victim's bottom, the Cork Circuit Court hearing was told last month. He collapsed and spent two weeks in hospital. Declan O'Connell (19), Rohan Mukerjee (18), and Colm O'Driscoll (23), all of Ballineen, Co Cork, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Bernard O'Donovan (19), at Grainger's Sawmills, Enniskeane, Co Cork, on August 5th, 1999.
