A woman who was killed instantly when her car was involved in a head-on collision on the main Cork-Dublin road early yesterday morning has been named as Ms Carol Fox, (24), of Woodsgift, Thurles, Co Tipperary.

Ms Fox, it is understood, was travelling towards Cork city, where she worked as an electrician, when the collision occurred at 8 a.m. near Watergrasshill, Co Cork.

Her car collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

Ms Fox died at the scene. Two other people who were taken to Cork University Hospital were later discharged. There were long delays on the Cork-Dublin road, with a tail-back of more than 2 1/2 miles as traffic was diverted for some time afterwards.
