The beautiful Beara peninsula in west Cork is one of those places that seems to hold a particular fascination for artists, judging by the exceptional number of them who have chosen to settle there over the years. Hardly surprising, then that the centrepiece exhibition of this year's Beara Arts Festival, the eight annual Artists in Beara exhibition, features work by some 60 artists. It's now open at the CoAction Centre in Castletownbere, where a solo show is given over to the work of Daisy Richardson. Other visual arts highlights of the Festival include a handball installation by Corban Walker (left), the New Building on the Pier show and Ten Days in May, a photographic exhibition in Allihies. The festival runs until Aug 7th.
