Arsenal’s quest for an away win Europe continues after they threw away all three points in the last minute at Leverkusen tonight.
A 90th-minute goal from veteran Ulf Kirsten earned Bayer Leverkusen a 1-1 draw after the Gunners had a player sent off for the 12th time this season.
Arsenal took the lead after 56 minutes when Robert Pires scored from close range goal, but Leverkusen gradually forced their way back into the game after Ray Parlour was sent off on 68 minutes for tripping Yildiray Basturk.
It was his second yellow of the match and third dismissal of the season.
With Juventus drawing 0-0 with Deportivo Coruna in the other group D match, all four sides have four points after three matches.
Real Madrid also left it late to score and take all three points off Porto at home in group C. The only goal came from substitute Santiago Solari after 83 minutes who struck with a fine individual effort.
Panathinaikos beat Sparta Prague 2-0 away leaving Real top of the group with a maximum haul of nine points from their three matches. Panathinaikos moved up from bottom to second on four points, ahead of Sparta on three and Porto with one.
