Eight men were arrested in Thurles, Co Tipperary, early on Sunday morning following a series of public order offences in the town. Gardai said the incidents, which occurred after discos and pubs closed, were not related.
Seven men were arrested under sections of the Non-Fatal Offences against the Persons Act. An eighth man, who was arrested and searched by gardai just after midnight, was found to have 30 ecstasy tablets. A Garda source said it was expected summonses would be served.
