An improvised explosive device was made safe in Co Galway yesterday

An improvised explosive device was made safe in Co Galway yesterday. The device was discovered at a house in Clonboo near the Galway-Mayo border at about 1.35pm yesterday.

An Army bomb-disposal team made the device safe and brought it to a military base for further examination.

The scene was declared safe at 2.35pm.

This was the 235th call-out of 2011 for explosive ordnance disposal and the 54th viable improvised explosive device made safe by bomb-disposal teams this year.
