The Fine Gael leader, Mr Bruton, has appealed to the Taoiseach to speak in "plain language" and to tell Sinn Fein and the IRA what they need to do in order not to jeopardise the Belfast Agreement.
Mr Bruton said he was worried the agreement was in grave danger because of tactical politics and shortsightedness.
"The Taoiseach, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the SDLP and Sinn Fein must keep their eye on the big picture, on what has already been achieved and could be lost just as much as on what has yet to be achieved," Mr Bruton said last night.
