Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia's attorney-general, Mr Mohtar Abdullah, confirmed yesterday that police injured the former finance minister, Mr Anwar Ibrahim, after he was arrested in September, but said no assailant had been identified.
The attorney-general offered the first official confirmation that police inflicted injuries on Mr Anwar after he was arrested and placed in custody on September 20th.
Mr Mohtar's statement came after the prosecution in the trial of Mr Anwar on corruption and sodomy charges closed its case yesterday.
