Actor Ray McBride is to lead the latest protest in Galway city against the decision to proceed with the Mutton Island sewage treatment plant. The actor, a star of many Druid Theatre productions, will lead a march organised by the Save Galway Bay (SGB) group from The Claddagh to Eyre Square, beginning at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday.
SGB, campaigning for a land based treatment works rather than one located on the Galway Bay island, is looking at the possibility of bringing Irish authorities to the European Court of Justice on the basis that the development, as planned, allegedly contravenes EU law.
