4 in court over €10m cannabis seizure

Four men appeared in court today in connection with the seizure of some €10

Four men appeared in court today in connection with the seizure of some €10.5 million worth of cannabis in Kildare yesterday.

Eddie Van Boxtel (34) of Sillogue Avenue, Ballymun, Dublin 11, appeared before Naas District Court charged with possession of cannabis resin, and possession of cannabis resin for sale or supply at Castlewarden, Kill, Co Kildare yesterday.

Martin O'Connor (45), North Great Charles St, Dublin, appeared on two similar charges relating to alleged possession and possession for sale or supply of cannabis at Castlewarden yesterday.

Vincent Percival (33), Clongorey, Newbridge, Co Kildare, appeared on four charges - one alleging possession of cannabis and one of possession for sale or supply of cannabis at Clongorey, Newbridge yesterday; and two alleging similar offences at Castlewarden, South Kill.

Francis Delaney (35), The Villa, Melrose Park, Kinsealy, Co Dublin, also appeared on two charges - one of possession of cannabis resin and one of possession of the drug for sale or supply at Castlewarden, South Kill.

All four were remanded in custody to appear before Naas District Court on February 13th.

In Mr Percival's case, bail was set at €10,000 with an independent surety of €250,000.
