ALL hope of saving 220 jobs at Kerry Fashions in Tralee was lost yesterday as workers were told that a prospective investor would not be putting money into the factory.

In Cork more than 20 jobs, also in the clothing industry, were lost at the Emerald Activewear plant in Blackpool. The factory established three years ago is expected to go into liquidation.

These job losses have come in the same week as the electronics firm Mitsuimi announced it was laying off 80 of its 170 workforce in Mallow over the next few months because of a transfer of production to its sister plant in the Far East.
