Doha - Qatar's appeal court yesterday condemned a cousin of the emir and 18 other people to death for their role in a failed 1996 coup, overruling life sentences pronounced by a lower court.
The official news agency QNA reported that the appeal court also imposed life terms on 20 defendants for plotting to overthrow Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and acquitted another 29, revising the figures it gave earlier.
