PLANS FOR a €100 million housing development and a new high quality country-style hotel on a 40-acre site adjoining Letterkenny Town Park has been lodged with the local planning authority.
The development will transform the grounds of Gortlee House in the heart of Letterkenny to accommodate an extension to the town park and to provide for townhouses, apartments, hotel, restaurant and public house. The project is the vision of the Robinson family, who have owned and managed Gortlee House since the 1880s.
The application seeks permission to develop 125 townhouses, 112 apartments and 44 detached and semi-detached houses, a 100- bedroom hotel, restaurant, public house, a creche and offices. As part of the plan, the Robinsons plan to cede more than four acres to Letterkenny Town Council to be used as an extension for the town park.
