Go Outdoors: A presentation by Simon Stewart, publisher of MountainViews.ie, will take place on Wednesday, February 24th, at 8pm in St Olaf's GAA Club.

The talk is being hosted by the Walkers Association of Ireland and while the event is free a contribution towards the cost of room hire is optional. There will be a QA session where hillwalkers will get an opportunity to share their views and experiences.

Wheelworx and Cycling Ireland are hosting Round one of the XC Developmental Race Series at Ballinastoe, Co Wicklow tomorrow.

The Cross Country Developmental Race Series is designed for people new to MTB racing. Sign on starts at 9am with junior racing (U8/10/12) starting at 10am and senior racing starting at midday. U8/10/12 are free, the rest pay €10. You can register on the day. See irishxcmtb.com.

Walking Festival

It is walking festival time again and first out of the blocks is the Táin Walking Festival at Carlingford (pictured) on March 5th to 7th. With a programme of walks to suit all abilities the weekend includes a Walking for Health Workshop, which is free, and an introduction to Nordic walking, which is €40. There will also be guided heritage walks. Registration is €15 for one walk or €25 for two.
