IT'S A FREE WORLD:CORK CITY is trying to entice Christmas shoppers this November by making more than 1,000 free car-parking spaces available to shoppers and visitors.

The initiative, by Cork Business Association and Cork City Council, has made 735 spaces available in the multi-storey car park on Paul Street and 410 spaces in the multi-storey at North Main St from Monday to Thursday, 10am to noon, and Thursday and Friday from 6.30pm to midnight (Paul St only).

Catch: with only two hours free car-parking Monday to Thursday, you could end up paying more for parking than you bargained for.

Take note: Cork's city Christmas lights will be switched on on Friday, November 18th and a Christmas festival in Grand Parade will be officially opened on Friday, November 25th. The festival includes free outdoor performances for the public. corkbusiness.ie.
