Colin O'Donoghue is the latest Irish actor to be blazing a trail to Hollywood. The Drogheda man was in Dublin this week at the European premiere of The Rite, an exorcism horror that he stars in opposite Anthony Hopkins and Ciarán Hinds. The film went straight to the top of the US box office on its release, taking $15 million on its opening weekend alone.
O'Donoghue cut his acting teeth in the likes of Love is the Drug, Proof2and The Clinic, before getting a role in The Tudors,and he now looks set to graduate to the A-list – film debuts don't come much better than fronting a Hollywood vehicle of this size.
It was nice to see, though, that he spent most of the premier’s after-show party entertaining the crowd on lead guitar with his old band, The Enemies. A born performer then? We reckon so.
