The best story doing the rounds at the moment concerns one of south Dublin's most expensive new housing developments. One of these mansions was recently acquired by a solicitor in trust for a client. The developer and his agents were subsequently reduced to a state of near apoplexy when the mystery purchaser turned up two weeks later in a white Hi-Ace van. He turned out to be a member of the travelling community who had recently won the Lotto and was reversing most of his prize money into bricks and mortar. The developer was quick to offer not only to return his deposit but also to give him £180,000 to move his Hi-Ace and his family off site pronto.
