Developer Rod McGovern has applied to develop 71 houses and apartments on the grounds of existing houses at Deerfield, Ancrum and Grange Hill on Harold’s Grange Road in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16. Five homes and four stables would be demolished to allow the scheme go ahead, with the focus very much on large houses – there would be 13 five-beds of 245sq m (2,637sq ft) and 47 four-beds of between 166 (1,786sq ft) and 168sq m (1,808sq ft) if the plan gets the thumbs up.
Last year McGovern was refused permission to develop 82 dwellings on the site after Dun Laoghaire Rathdown ruled that the proposed public spaces would be substandard and “unacceptable”.
McGovern is also behind plans for The Grange Retirement Village, a 16-acre nursing home complex at Ticknock near Sandyford. The plans would include a nursing home, a stroke rehabilitation clinic, residential accommodation and community and recreational facilities. Councillors will have to approve a variation to the county development plan to allow the scheme go ahead.
