Fans of Boston Legal might recognise the Phillipe Starck Bubble Club chair in the zen garden of 10 Effra Road. At the end of each episode Denny Crane (played by William Shatner) and Alan Shore (James Spader) settle into their Bubble Club chairs on the law firm's terrace to ruminate on the day's events.
Furniture store Inreda (01 4409835) says people come into the shop looking for the chairs on Boston Legal for their balconies and terraces. The armchair is €470, a sofa version costs €715 and there's a table for €148. Made from polypropylene they are lightweight, durable and fade-resistant and make a funky alternative to traditional timber garden furniture. They come in white, grey, yellow, green and red.
The garden of 10 Effra Road was designed for socialising and outdoor living. It features a white wall which doubles as a film screen for outdoor screenings.
The garden was designed by thirtythreetrees (01 4409835/ thirtythreetrees.com) and has extensive iroko wood decking flanked by spike lights and blue uplighters from Hicken Lighting (1800 777 077).
The entire job, which involved excavation, rebuilding walls and a complete redesign and replanting of the garden with low maintenance plants like Chilean evergreen ferns, dogwoods, bamboo and fern, cost around €40,000.
