An apartment development beside Blanchardstown Town Centre, in west Dublin, goes on sale today through agents Hooke & MacDonald. Built by Cosgraves, Westend Village will occupy a 4.5-acre site and will consist of 144 two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments in six, four-storey blocks.

Along with access to the facilities of a burgeoning Blanchardstown, Westend Village will have its own commercial village development with bank, restaurant and convenience stores.

Two-thirds of the apartments have two bedrooms, the remaining 48 have three. Those on the ground floor have patios while apartments on the upper floors have balconies, with end apartments having the advantage of balconies to both the side and front. Architects Burke Kennedy Doyle and Partners have given penthouse apartments the benefit of light from a series of Velux windows over the kitchen, dining area and bathroom.

Prices in Westend range from £124,950 to £141,950 for the two-bedroom design, and from £134,950 to £159,950 for those with three bedrooms. Variations depend on floor level and position and all prices include car-parking spaces. The first phase of 45 apartments is being released today through Hooke & MacDonald. It is expected that sales of the first apartments will begin closing from mid-July onwards and the balance of the apartments are to be ready by mid-October.

Built around a central, landscaped courtyard, the finished development will also have outer, landscaped garden walks. Each of the six blocks will have two entrances, which will mean 12 apartments to each entrance and three apartments per floor. The scheme will be walled and railed with a security gate and janitor.

A three-bedroom show apartment on the first floor has two balconies, both with timber, deck-style flooring. There is a good-sized entrance lobby and the fireplace in the living/diningroom, which is standard to all apartments, has a built-in electric fire. Open plan, this area leads into the kitchen where there are marble-style worktops.

The main bedroom is en suite with a curved shower cabinet. A two-bedroom apartment on the same floor has an entrance hallway, off which there are the bedrooms, living/ diningroom and a storage cupboard. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes. Also on this floor there is a two bedroom apartment with double balconies.
