Amid the profusion of stellar jazz piano talent to have emerged from the UK in the past decade, Zoe Rahman is unique for the vibrant musical blend she has created out of her British and Bengali background, classical training and jazz. The award-winning, Chichester-born musician has studied with, among others, the celebrated jazz pianist JoAnne Brackeen at Boston’s famed Berklee College.

Rahman's debut album, The Cynic, released on her own label in 2001, earned her a Rising Star nomination for the BBC Jazz Awards. Her second, Melting Pot, was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2006. Her third, 2008's Where Rivers Meet, was an acclaimed exploration of the music of her Bengali heritage with her brother, clarinettist Idris.

Idris will accompany her trio on this Music Network tour. The trio is completed by renowned jazz musicians bassist Oli Hayhurst and drummer Gene Calderazzo.
