Kilkenny comes alive with music and performance for its annual arts festival, but the visual arts element of the festival has been growing, and this year expands to include architecture and craft.
The Lives of Spaces,Ireland's exhibition at last year's Venice Architecture Biennale, is on at Kilkenny Castle, while the Castle Yard galleries are exhibiting a curated exhibition of contemporary craft.
For “pure” visual arts, however, see Something Else, curated by Aisling Prior at Rothe House, with work and occasional performances by Ciaran Murphy, Corban Walker, Isabel Nolan, Jo Anne Butler, John Byrne, Kevin Atherton, Mick Wilson and Gary Coyle. Further highlights include David Godbold showing at the Butler Gallery, Patrick Scott at the Blackbird Gallery, Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh at Ryan’s Electrical, and Blaise Smith at the Zavvi Store at MacDonagh Junction.
