Up Bach

You can keep your domes and your spikes - give us Bach, Bach and more Bach to celebrate the millennium

You can keep your domes and your spikes - give us Bach, Bach and more Bach to celebrate the millennium. The Canzona Chamber Choir, with the Orchestra of St Cecilia, is doing exactly that. Their Millennium Bach Festival will involve the performance of three of the master's greatest works: the Mass in B Minor, the St John Passion and the St Matthew Passion. They kick off in B Minor on Saturday at St Ann's Church, Dawson Street, with soloists Anne O'Byrne, Robin Tritchsler and John Milne and Colette McGahon.

The other concerts follow in February and April. They point out that Bach is 250 years dead next year, but really, we need no further reasons for the performance of these sublime works.
