A capacity crowd in the biggest venue in town paying top dollar can’t be wrong . . . can they? Tijs Michiel Verwest’s latest trip to Ireland is further proof that the Dutch trance DJ and producer is one of the biggest draws in the game. Tiësto has already played many, many big shows here, but there’s still a demand for his sound and spectacle.
While many trance producers seek out the big time, few have hit the heights that Tiësto has experienced. From writing and performing the music for the opening ceremony at the 2004 Olympics to albums and tours that seem bigger and more outlandish than their predecessors, Tiësto does dwarf his peers. Musically, his last album (
Kaleidoscope) did veer away slightly from the techno/trance formula, but it's unlikely that he's quite ready yet to ditch what has been a hugely successful sound.
