The iconic Pavement singer Stephen Malkmus, looking like both Shaggy and Harry Dean Stanton, made an unassuming entrance at Dublin's Button Factory on Wednesday.

There were leisurely gaps between tracks, before he and The Jicks belted out powerful versions of songs from the latest album plus gems from his solo catalogue. The big sound was faithful to the recorded versions, with added oomph, soul and attitude. Righteous.
