The glut of independent festivals that took place last weekend all ran relatively smoothly.

Just because the Bank Holiday weekend has passed, however, doesn’t mean that festival season has ended. Along with Electric Picnic, there are plenty more indoor and outdoor events taking place over the next month.

The Kilkenny Arts Festival kicks off today and runs until August 15th. Some of the names visiting include Tindersticks, Andy Irvine, Mick Flannery, Damo Suzuki, Halves and Adrian Crowley.

The Border counties are getting in on the act, too. The 60th Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann takes place in Cavan for the first time since 1954, from August 16th-22nd, and will combine a celebration of trad with competitions, céilí and impromptu sessions.

Monaghan town, meanwhile, will host the Harvest Time Blues festival from September 3rd-5th, featuring a host of international blues acts.
