First there were five, then there were four, and now – parp of trumpets, roll of red carpets, tinkling of champagne flutes – there are five again. For thousands of Irish Take That fans, this is the day they have been waiting for: errant co-founding member Robbie Williams is back in the fold, following a hugely successful solo career (that is, by all, accounts, still in the frame). So all the arguments have been forgotten, all bad blood cleaned up, and a new album ( Progress) recorded and released.

The last time Take That played in Dublin it was with the spectacular Circus show, a blend of pop music and Cirque du Soleil shenanigans that had critics mispelling their superlatives. Judging by the preview reports of this show, we can expect the usual range of solid man-band pop mixed in with some great special effects and – that man again! – a sidebar Robbie Williams gig. For some curious reason, Pet Shop Boys are the support act. No, don’t get that one, either.
