A few years ago, this writer met Tom Shadyac and was disappointed to discover that the director of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Patch Adams, Evan Almightyand (surely one of the worst films ever made) Dragonflywas an alarmingly nice man.
It seems that Shadyac subsequently confirmed that impression by giving all his money to charity and moving into a trailer park. He has subsequently toured the world talking to wise men (among them Noam Chomsky and Desmond Tutu) and gathered his experiences together into a forthcoming film called I Am. The world's a funny place (though not if Patch Adamsis playing anywhere nearby).
