Shuffle: Bibi Bourelly moves on from Rihanna to solo stardom

The week’s clips, singles, downloads and audiostreams, including the latest from Justin Beiber, Pleasure Beach and Pugwash

Justin Bieber - Sorry

★ ★
"I made mistakes maybe once or twice / And by once or twice I mean maybe a thousand times..." This Skrillex- produced second single from the Biebs' forthcoming fourth studio album Purpose finds the Canadian heartthrob in apologetic mood. A follow-up video called I'll Show You, which dropped just this week, shows the 21-year old perched on the edge of a cliff apparently contemplating the worst. So it's true. I really should be careful what I wish for.

Pleasure Beach - Go

★ ★ ★
The opening track from Pleasure Beach's Dreamer to the Dawn EP may owe a major debt to Arcade Fire's 2007 album track Antichrist Television Blues. But that isn't to say the song is without merit in its own right. The Belfast band support The Vaccines at the Olympia on December 8th.

Bibi Bourelly - Ego

★ ★ ★ ★
Bibi Bourelly is a 21-year-old Berliner, of Moroccan and Haitian descent, probably best known for having collaborated with Lil Wayne and having written Rihanna's recent hit single Bitch Better Have My Money. This time around she's goes it alone, and the attitude is just as uncompromising. ("I won't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever give a fuck," she vows in the chorus.)

Pugwash - Hung Myself Out To Dry

★ ★ ★
Pugwash's sixth album Play This Intimately (As If Among Friends) – the title was borrowed from the instructions The Kinks' Ray Davis found on an old piece of sheet music – has been available in the US since September. But it's only just been released on this side of the Atlantic. Thomas Walsh has never hidden his affection for classic Sixties pop and the influence of Paul McCartney, in particular, is clearly evident on this lead single. Think Got to Get You Into My Life... just a little less infused with the joys of life.
