Dublin Latin American Festival Temple Bar and other areas, Dublin Until Aug 21 lancifestival.com
Temple Bar becomes Temple Barrio as the second Dublin Latin American Festival brings a flavour of South America to the streets of the city centre.
The festival, which also includes events in the Pod on Harcourt Street and the National Concert Hall on Earlsfort Terrace, is organised by Lanci, the Latin American Native Community in Ireland.
The line-up features traditional Ecuadorian folk dance from Raices de Tungurahua (Temple Bar Hotel, tomorrow 4-8pm), with support from Venezuelan singer Tania Ordaz; a Brazilian night, Boteco Brasiliero (Turks Head, Parliament St, tonight 9pm); and a gala recital, Classico Latino (National Concert Hall, John Field Room, Friday 19th, 1.05pm).
Getting the party well and truly rocking will be headliners Labana (left), a latin-grunge-metal-hip-hop crew from Cuba (Purty Kitchen, tomorrow, 9pm).
The festival runs until Sunday, August 21st, and offers an opportunity for the members of Ireland’s Latin American community to get together and celebrate their culture – and for their Irish friends to get a real flavour of their vibrant music, art, film, dance and food.
There will be photo and art exhibitions, film screenings, workshops (in skills such as the art of brewing maté tea from Uruguay), and a Latin art, craft and food fair (Amphitheatre, Wood Quay, Sunday noon-6pm).
