What are your favourite and least favourite venues?Dublin's Olympia is the best as a spectator. Crawdaddy or the Grand Social, both in Dublin, are the best to play, in my experience. Worst venue was the Backroom on O'Connell St.

Who is the most famous person to have shown up at one of your gigs?Dermot Whelan from Republic of Telly. Also The Swell Season (before they won an Oscar).

Most embarrassing on-stage moment?Strap snapping on guitar in mid-solo while in attempted show-off mode.

What's your crowd-pleasing number? Liberator. J, our guitarist, dances the "hucklebuck" on this track.

Groupies. Would you?Neilo would. I'm happily married.

How big is your entourage?Very small; I'd say 22.

Have you a special stage wardrobe? Pair of socks and a dry T-shirt, snakeskin shoes and some painted-on red pants!

What's the worst thing ever thrown at you?Coins. But I got enough money to buy a bag of chips, so it was worth it.

What's your best tour story? You have to wait for the book. Saccade – Our Lives as Toads on the Road.
