And to think they started out as garage-goth revivalists! From hearing The Horror’s 2007 debut album (Strange House) to seeing one of their live shows at this time, you’d be forgiven for walking away laughing and wondering: are these guys for real?

And yet, as 2009’s second album (Primary Colours) and, in particular, last year’s Skying effortlessly proved, here was a band that could easily jettison their early, obvious influences and come up with no small amount of goods that, while referencing rock’s rich heritage of the 1980s, clearly advanced their creativity.

Besides, what’s not to like about a band of skinny- malinks with a collective sharp dress sense and, like, you know, really MAD hair?
