Twisted Pepper, Dublin Tomorrow10.30pm €15/€13 01-8734800
2012 was the year Matthew Walker aka Julio Bashmore (below) moved on up yet again. Last year the Bristol-based DJ and producer’s Battle for Middle You was the underground house anthem, a tune that popped up at festivals and clubs all year long. Walker first appeared on the radar as Julio Bashmore with a well- received EP for Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label in 2009, before taking his name and style to Night Slugs, PTN and Fabric.
Bashmore has kept the quality tunes coming (Au Seve and Husk are absolute crackers) but he’s also taken a step towards the mainstream with his production work on Jessie Ware’s magnificent debut album, Devotion.
Bashmore appears at the Twisted Pepper as the venue marks four very busy years in business. Support from Barry Redsetta, Frank B, Eoin Cregan and Tayor.
