Clubs - Bank holiday round up

As is always the case when a bank holiday weekend rolls around, it’s a case of too many attractions and not enough time.

As is always the case when a bank holiday weekend rolls around, it’s a case of too many attractions and not enough time.

The big one for many discerning electronic music fans will be a brace of live appearances from Nicolas Jaar (above), the New York/Chilean producer who gave us 2011’s most beguiling album in Space Is Only Noise (Sat, Liss Ard festival, Co Cork; Sun, Dublin). James Blake’s two night stand (Fri, Dublin; Sat, Belfast) sees the man behind last year’s gorgeous dub-soul album take to the decks, and we can expect to hear cuts from his Harmonix alter-ego. Oxford angular pop experts Foals are also in DJ mode this weekend with a show at Dublin’s Pogo (Sat) to plug their new Tapes mix-album.

For those seeking techno this weekend, Jeff Mills’ arrival on Middle Abbey Street for a date at the Twisted Pepper on Sunday is the one to note.

Can't see that? Catch this:War settle into their new home (Fri, Dublin); World Bass Culture's sunny bass mash-up (Fri, Cork); and Vinyl Sunday give you classic cuts by the sea (Sun, Enniscrone, Co Sligo)
