Simon Green, aka Bonobo (pictured), has been making electronic music with depth and soul for quite some time. Long before his most recent album (Black Sands) caught folks’ ears and grabbed a bevy of rave reviews, Green was fine-tuning his distinctively pastoral and dreamy sound.

This story began in Brighton in the late 1990s, with blow-in Green producing tracks and DJing at various nights in city. After a couple of releases on Rob Luis’s Tru Thoughts label he moved to Ninja Tune, where such albums as Dial M for Monkey and Days to Come provided plenty of signs of Green’s growing prowess in the studio.

Some of the most striking aspects of the acclaimed Black Sands come from the contributions of singer Andreya Triana, a favour which was returned after Green produced her 2010 debut album, Lost Where I Belong.
